Opening Windows on Skills

Adult learning today is centred on the learner’s needs. Generally, adult learners are independent, self-directed, and internally motivated. The adult learning environment tends to be informal and is marked by mutual respect and cooperation. Planning and assessment are collaborative events between learners and teacher/facilitator. Teaching or facilitation includes projects, practical application, and independent study. Finally, evaluation of the learning can be accomplished using a variety of models, usually against a pre-established set of standards or competencies.
